A Little Donkey
I’m just a little donkey, That’s all I’ll ever be. I carry and I toil, And that’s enough for me.
I’m just a little donkey, No one looks my way. But today something’s different. It seems a special day.
The One who came to ride me, Loved me right away We rode into the city And heard the people say
Hosanna to the Great King, Save us by Your name. Upon palms I was walking, They shouted as we came.
Who is this Rider with me? His hands I feel I know. What gift did they give me, I remember them so?
These hands upon my back, Made me from the dust. Long ago, they formed me, So serve Him well I must.
I’m just a little donkey, That’s all I want to be. I carried the Almighty, In His humility.
Horses have kings, And steeds have their knights. But I’m a lowly being, Who carried the True Light
Truly light He is, And so is His burden. He doesn’t weigh me down. He lifts me to heaven
I’m just a little donkey, There isn’t much I know. But I hope that you’ll believe me, When I tell you so:
I wouldn’t be a monkey, A lion, or a man. Because today this little donkey, Carried the I AM.
Won’t you be a little donkey, Serving the great King? Walk in humility, And you’ll soon find Him riding.
Bring Him to the people, And they’ll all be merry. Not just because of you, But the One that you carry.
It’s enough now what I’ve brayed, I hope that you’ll join me. In thanking God He made, Me, a little donkey.
